With origins dating back to 1268, Domaine Yvon Clerget in Volnay represents one of Burgundy’s most historic family estates. After several years of dormancy, the domaine was revitalized in 2015 when Thibaud Clerget, the 28th generation, returned to take the helm. His arrival marked a dramatic resurgence, turning this once-silent domaine into one of Volnay’s most exciting producers.
Today, the 6-hectare property spans Volnay, Pommard, and Meursault, with enviable holdings in Volnay 1er Cru “Clos du Verseuil” and Pommard 1er Cru “Les Rugiens.” Thibaud farms organically and harvests entirely by hand, aiming for balance rather than power.
In the cellar, gentle extractions, whole-cluster fermentation, and minimal oak use define his style. The wines are characterized by their fragrance, finesse, and precision — hallmark traits of great Volnay. They combine a silken texture with fine minerality and remarkable length.

Critics have hailed Thibaud as one of the brightest young talents in Burgundy, and his wines — elegant, pure, and profoundly terroir-driven — are already in high demand. Domaine Yvon Clerget stands as a brilliant example of Burgundy’s new generation marrying centuries-old heritage with contemporary finesse.
