Based in Neive, within the Barbaresco appellation, Piero Busso and his family have built a reputation for producing Nebbiolos of authenticity and balance. Founded in 1953, the estate now covers around 10 hectares, including prized parcels in crus such as Albesani, Gallina, and San Stunet.
The Bussos farm organically and by hand on steep slopes of calcareous marl, seeking purity of fruit and respect for the land. Winemaking is traditional yet refined — spontaneous fermentations, extended macerations, and aging in large Slavonian oak botti that preserve transparency and structure.
Piero’s son, Pierguido, now works alongside him, bringing a touch of modern precision to the family’s time-honored style. The wines — especially Barbaresco “Albesani” and “Mondino” — are elegant and perfumed, with notes of rose, red cherry, and spice framed by fine tannins.
