Camille Thiriet and her partner Matt Chittick farm impeccable fruit from old parcels around Comblanchien in the Côte de Nuits-Villages AOC, which Thiriet calls “an amazing, underrated, and unknown appellation” and whose soils she regards as 1er Cru standard. They also source grapes from a network of trusted organic farmers in Vézelay (near Chablis), Volnay, and the Jura.
In 2022, Camille increased her holdings to 6ha with a handful of exceptional old vines previously belonging to Domaine Gilles Jourdan, as well as an ancient cellar that she plans to renovate. This, combined with the mentorship of Bernard Noblet, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s retired chef de cave, has taken Thiriet’s wines up a notch yet further.
Drawing upon her experience at Domaine de la Côte in California and Matt’s role as winemaker at Domaine de Villaine, Camille vinifies each of her tiny parcels separately in a micro-winery behind Château de Comblanchien. Reds combine gorgeous whole-bunch perfumes with silky tannins and fine, mineral details, while whites are underscored by energy and tension.
