Founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Ivan Massonnat, Domaine Belargus has redefined the Loire Valley’s Anjou Noir region with a Burgundian approach to terroir and precision. Working with legendary Chenin Blanc vineyards across Savennières, Quarts-de-Chaume, and the Layon Valley, Belargus crafts wines of extraordinary depth and purity.
The domaine farms biodynamically, with painstaking attention to soil vitality and biodiversity. Each parcel — from “Clos des Ruchères” to “Coteau des Treilles” — is vinified separately to express its unique geological identity.
In the cellar, Massonnat and winemaker Aymeric Hillaire employ slow, natural fermentations and long élevage in neutral barrels or amphorae. The wines balance power and minerality, combining texture with remarkable precision and longevity.
Belargus has garnered international acclaim for elevating Anjou to grand cru status in all but name.
