Dominique Lafon (2008–2023)
Domaine Dominique Lafon was created in 2008 by Dominique, as he began his 24th harvest at the head of Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault. Initially, the project was built around several lease agreements secured with friends and professional partners, including Meursault Narvaux, Puligny Champ Gain, Volnay Lurets and Beaune Epenottes, as well as a négociant activity working with Côte de Beaune appellations.
In 2011, Dominique acquired two parcels of Bourgogne Blanc — Les Grandes Coutures in Meursault and Les Femelottes in Puligny — significantly increasing his production volume.
In 2015, the domaine, previously located on the Domaine Manuel property in Meursault, moved to Château de Bligny. This original concept was inspired by Californian and Oregon “Custom Crush” facilities where Dominique worked as a consultant. Together with Pierre Meurgey, manager of Clos de la Chapelle, they share vinification space and resources, welcoming each year young winemakers who wish to embark on the adventure of wine production.
Today, the domaine farms 5 hectares of vines, producing Bourgogne, Meursault Narvaux and Puligny Champ Gain for the whites, and Volnay, Volnay Les Lurets and Beaune Epenottes for the reds. Less than 10% of total production comes from négociant wines, including fine hillside Aligotés, Pernand-Vergelesses, Corton-Charlemagne and, since 2024, Monthélie Premier Cru Rouge.
The vineyards are managed with a qualitative and sustainable approach, using organic and biodynamic practices. In the cellar, Dominique continues his pursuit of purity and finesse developed during the 2010s in Meursault, with meticulous attention to detail, regular tastings and analyses to master the wine’s life cycle while respecting the expression of terroir.
Since 2023, Dominique has been joined by his son Guillaume Lafon, initially trained in philosophy and science, and more recently in viticulture and oenology at the CFPPA in Beaune. The transmission from father to son is underway to provide Guillaume with all the tools necessary to continue bringing the terroirs of the Côte de Beaune to life for his generation and those to come.
Guillaume Lafon (2023-2025 )
After studying philosophy of science and working five years in the IT sector, Guillaume Lafon returned to explore his Burgundian roots beginning with the 2023 vintage, in order to continue the work of the family generations who preceded him.
Trained by Marquis d’Angerville and his father Dominique Lafon, Guillaume now farms 5 hectares of vines and vinifies around ten appellations, alongside a small négociant activity.
Guillaume’s approach is non-dogmatic: tradition and innovation go hand in hand in his work, combining ancient practices such as horse ploughing with modern techniques such as drone spraying research. Beyond ideological divisions, his sensitivity revolves around two essential vectors of terroir expression: space and time. For this young winegrower, a bottle of wine is a preserve of minerals. The producer and his secrets step aside in favor of the vintage and the terroir, allowing one to discover, with pleasure, a particular history and geography.
Continuing Dominique’s work, Guillaume farms his vineyards using organic and biodynamic practices, relying on three pillars: sustainability, autonomy and continuous improvement. A demanding yet humble approach to reveal the finesse of the Côte de Beaune appellations.
The estate is based in the shared winery at Château de Bligny-lès-Beaune, which has seen producers such as Jane Eyre and Pierre Brisset flourish. With a new label, Guillaume released his first vintage under his own name in 2024. The range extends from a hillside Aligoté to Corton-Charlemagne, including the flagship Lafon family appellations of Volnay, Puligny and Meursault.
Presentation of the Wines
The 2024 Vintage
A challenging vintage in viticulture, marked by a period of cold during flowering and significant disease pressure, resulting in wines made in a classical style — full of finesse and highly drinkable. We avoided excessive fruit extraction, focusing instead on finesse and silky tannins for the Pinots. The wines are precise, beautifully balanced and very approachable in their youth, both white and red.
Bourgogne Blanc
Our Bourgogne Blanc is a blend of our Les Femelottes vineyard in the village of Puligny-Montrachet (25-year-old vines) and Les Grandes Coutures in Meursault (75-year-old vines). Aged 10 months in demi-muids, then 6 months in tank. One third of the blend from Grandes Coutures provides intensity and depth, balanced by the more linear profile of the two thirds from Femelottes.
Bourgogne Aligoté (Négociant)
Our Aligoté comes from grapes purchased on the high slopes of Bouze-lès-Beaune. A cold, late-ripening terroir with century-old vines. This cuvée is aged 16 months in tank, protected with nitrogen and with minimal sulfites to preserve the freshness of the grape. A mouth-watering wine that drinks quickly — in every sense of the term.
Pernand-Vergelesses (Négociant)
Our Pernand-Vergelesses comes from the parcel Devant les Cloux, south-facing on the hillside above the village. The wine presents a refreshing attack and mid-palate, lively and typical of the cooler Pernand slopes. A very promising cuvée that can be enjoyed young but also evolves beautifully with time.
Meursault Village (Négociant)
A négociant wine from interior climats of the village of Meursault, aged like our white premier crus: 10 months in oak barrels and 8 months in tank. A generous profile with strong terroir typicity.
Meursault Narvaux
This cuvée is a blend of two parcels, Les Narvaux Dessous and Les Narvaux Dessus, both located high on the slope above Genevrières. Narvaux is often considered a cold terroir, but it actually benefits from significant thermal amplitude and can experience substantial daytime warmth. A true sponge for the vintage, clearly reflecting 2024. The wine offers beautiful substance carried by strong tension typical of the upper slopes of Meursault.
Puligny Champ Gain Premier Cru
A high-altitude Puligny premier cru located northwest of Puligny-Montrachet, producing wines that combine density and finesse. Aromas of ripe stone fruit and flowers burst on the palate, accompanied by toasted notes that integrate seamlessly into this structured, precise wine with a long, saline finish.
Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Négociant)
Our Corton-Charlemagne comes from the upper slopes of the hill on the Ladoix-Serrigny side, facing southeast. A grand cru distinguished by its volume on the palate and aromatic complexity. The terroir expresses itself delicately and with length, between minerality, citrus notes, toasted nuances and floral hints.
Volnay
Our Volnay comes from the climat Les Lurets, which extends from the premier cru of the same name, below the famous Caillerets. Red fruit and graphite notes mingle with lightly smoky aromas that add complexity. Aged 10 months in barrel and 8 months in tank, like all our Pinot Noir cuvées, it is suitable for drinking young or after several years of aging.
Monthélie Premier Cru (Négociant)
Our Monthélie Premier Cru is a négociant wine harvested by us from the parcels Sur La Velle (80%) and Champs Fulliots (20%). A wine of great finesse with excellent drinkability in its youth for this vintage.
Beaune Epenottes Premier Cru
This premier cru lies southeast of Beaune, north of the Epenots of Pommard. Epenottes consistently presents red fruit aromas on the nose, with a straightforward palate supported by elegant tannins. The 2024 vintage shows spicy and floral aromas of fine intensity.
Volnay Les Lurets Premier Cru
The premier cru Les Lurets is located south of the village of Volnay, just below the famous Cailleret. The 2023 vintage is all about finesse, with promising complexity for the years ahead. Red and black fruits are structured by rich, well-integrated tannins. The tasting is marked by tension that carries the wine through a long finish.
