Born from the union of two historic Burgundy families, Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet has rapidly become one of the Côte de Nuits’ most exciting estates. Managed by Amélie Berthaut since 2013, the domaine merges her family’s holdings in Fixin with those of the Gerbet lineage in Vosne-Romanée, creating a 16-hectare mosaic of diverse terroirs.
Amélie’s approach emphasizes authenticity and precision. She farms sustainably, avoids excessive extraction, and allows natural fermentations to highlight the character of each parcel. Aging occurs in carefully selected French oak (20–30 % new), achieving texture without overwhelming fruit purity.
The wines show remarkable energy and grace — elegant tannins, lifted aromatics, and a sense of effortless balance. Her Fixin and Vosne-Romanée bottlings in particular demonstrate that lesser-known appellations can achieve grand cru nuance when handled with care.
Berthaut-Gerbet stands at the forefront of Burgundy’s generational renewal. Amélie’s wines combine classicism and innovation, delivering expressions of Pinot Noir that are simultaneously accessible and profound — a name every serious Burgundy importer should know.
